Updated October 20, 2026. On that date we checked the setup steps for HubSpot, Salesforce, Gmail, Slack, Gong, and Granola against each vendor’s own docs and the Claude connector directory.

Claude connectors link Claude to the tools where your sales work already lives, so it can read and act on real deal data instead of only what you paste into the chat. For sales, the four that matter most are your CRM, your email, your calendar, and your call recorder. HubSpot, Attio, Close, Zoho CRM, Gmail, Microsoft 365, Google Calendar, Fathom, Grain, Fireflies, Granola, Zoom, Apollo, ZoomInfo, Salesloft, Outreach, and PandaDoc all have connectors in Claude’s directory today. Salesforce has its own hosted MCP servers and a beta directory connector, and Gong has an official MCP server you add as a custom connector.

Connecting your tools is the most important step in setting up Claude for sales. Without them, Claude only knows what you tell it. With them, it can pull live pipeline data, reference call transcripts, search your inbox, and update your CRM.

What are Claude connectors?

Claude connectors are integrations between Claude and your other tools. Under the hood they run on MCP (Model Context Protocol), an open standard for connecting AI to outside systems. Some tools have one-click connectors in the official Claude directory. Others have built their own MCP servers that you add manually as a custom connector. Once connected, both work the same way inside Claude.

If you only connect four things, make it these, in this order: your CRM, your email, your calendar, and your call recorder. Then add anything else your deals touch, like your contracts tool, or Stripe if you handle billing.

What data can Claude see through a connector?

Only what you can see. Claude inherits your permissions in each connected tool, so if you can’t open a record, channel, or file, Claude can’t either. It reaches into a tool only when you ask something that needs it, and each connector’s page in the directory lists its tools and whether they read or write.

In practice, that means a CRM connector sees the records your user can see, an email connector sees the one account you connected, and a call recorder connector sees the calls you have access to. Some leave things out on purpose: HubSpot’s connector can’t read custom Sensitive Data properties, Gmail’s can’t open attachments, and Gong’s skips private calls.

Directory connector vs custom MCP connector

A directory connector is listed at claude.com/connectors. You find it in Claude under Customize, then Connectors, click Connect, and sign in. HubSpot, Gmail, Slack, and Granola work this way.

A custom connector is any remote MCP server you add by URL. You go to Customize, then Connectors, add a custom connector, paste the server URL, and sometimes add an OAuth client ID. Salesforce’s hosted MCP servers and Gong’s MCP server work this way, and both need an admin to set something up on their side first. Custom connectors are on every Claude plan, and Free is limited to one.

On Team and Enterprise plans, an Owner enables each connector for the organization before people can sign in, either kind.

Is it safe to connect Claude to your sales tools?

It can be, if you set it up on purpose. Four things to check:

  • Permissions in the tool. Claude acts as you. An admin who wants reps to have less access should narrow it in the tool itself: HubSpot’s Super Admin settings, a Salesforce permission set, or Gong’s Personal access.
  • Tool permissions in Claude. Every tool can be set to Always allow, Needs approval, or Blocked. Put anything that writes, sends, or deletes on Needs approval.
  • Organization controls. Team and Enterprise Owners can restrict actions for everyone, for example letting Claude read email but never send it.
  • Who made the connector. Anthropic’s directory says it doesn’t control which tools a developer offers. Prefer connectors made by the tool’s own vendor.

One rep vs the whole team

Claude can drive one tool when one rep asks. That’s a real step up, and it’s the best proof there is that AI belongs in sales.

It stops at the rep who asked. Each person connects their own tools, writes their own prompts, and decides what to approve. Nothing runs on the deals nobody asked about, and leaders can’t see what their best reps are doing differently.

Arrows works the other way round. It connects to the tools your team already uses through MCP, pulls context from every tool, and takes action in every tool, on every deal, based on your team’s playbook and each deal’s gameplan, without anyone prompting. A new name comes up on a call, and Arrows enriches them and updates the CRM. Prospect research is ready before every call. Security and competitor questions get answers from your team’s own docs. Leaders set every tool to Off, Ask first, or Allow, so only what they want actually happens.

Sales Skills by Arrows is a free Claude connector for sellers. It builds your sales profile from your connected tools and gives you a set of skills to use inside Claude every day: daily briefs, call prep, follow-ups, deal nudges, and pipeline reviews.

Get it at skills.arrows.to. If your admin hasn’t approved custom connectors, the same skills are on GitHub as plain files that any individual user can install, and they work with ChatGPT, Copilot, and Gemini too.

How to put it all together

Common questions

What connectors does Claude have?

Claude’s connector directory at claude.com/connectors lists hundreds of connectors. For sales, the main ones are HubSpot, Attio, Close, and Zoho CRM; Gmail and Microsoft 365; Google Calendar; Fathom, Fireflies, Grain, Granola, Otter, and Zoom; Apollo, ZoomInfo, Clay, Salesloft, and Outreach; PandaDoc and Docusign; Slack, Notion, and Google Drive. Salesforce has a beta connector there too, and Gong connects as a custom connector.

Does Claude have connectors like ChatGPT?

Yes. Claude’s connectors do the same job as the apps and connectors in ChatGPT: they link the assistant to your other tools so it can read and act on real data. Claude’s run on MCP, an open standard, so many vendors support both. Gong and Granola, for example, document setup for Claude and ChatGPT side by side.

Is it safe to use connectors in Claude?

Claude inherits your permissions in each tool, so it can’t reach anything you couldn’t. You can set every tool to Always allow, Needs approval, or Blocked, and on Team and Enterprise plans Owners can restrict actions for everyone. Keep tools that write or send on Needs approval, and only connect services you trust. Anthropic’s directory warns that it doesn’t control which tools a developer offers.

How do I add a custom connector to Claude?

Go to Customize, then Connectors, click Add, then choose Custom, then Web. Name the connector, paste the remote MCP server URL, review the sign-in settings, and click Add. Then connect as you would a directory connector. Custom connectors work on every plan, Free is limited to one, and the server has to be reachable on the public internet. The Salesforce guide walks through a real one.

What data can Claude access through connectors?

Only what you can access in the connected tool, and only when you ask something that needs it. Each connector’s page in the directory lists its tools and whether they read or write. A CRM connector can see the records your user can see; an email connector sees the account you connected.

Does Claude connect to HubSpot?

Yes. HubSpot’s official connector is in Claude’s directory. Claude can read and update contacts, companies, deals, tickets, and activities, but can’t delete records. How to connect Claude to HubSpot.

Does Claude connect to Salesforce?

Yes. Salesforce’s hosted MCP servers connect as a custom connector once an admin sets up an External Client App, and Salesforce lists a beta connector (Headless 360) in Claude’s directory. Microsoft Dynamics 365 Sales has official MCP support too. How to connect Claude to Salesforce.

Does Claude connect to Gong?

Yes, through Gong’s official MCP server, set up by a Gong tech admin and added in Claude as a custom connector. It’s read-only: Claude can ask about an account or deal and generate a brief. How to connect Gong to Claude.

What’s the difference between a connector and a custom MCP server?

Nothing, once it’s running. Directory connectors are a click to add and have been reviewed for the directory. Custom connectors need a server URL and sometimes OAuth details, and on Team and Enterprise plans an Owner may need to allow them.

What’s the difference between a connector and a plugin?

A connector links Claude to one outside tool. A plugin is a package that can install several things at once: skills, connectors, and agents.
