Claude connector guide

How to connect Claude to HubSpot

HubSpot has an official Claude connector, built by HubSpot and listed in Claude’s connector directory. In Claude, open Connectors, find HubSpot, click Connect, and sign in. A Super Admin or a user with App Marketplace access connects first. Claude can then read and update contacts, companies, deals, and activities. It can’t delete anything.

How to connect Claude to HubSpot

About five minutes, once the right person in HubSpot has approved the connector. It works in Claude on the web, desktop, and mobile.

  1. Step 1: Check who can connect

Super Admins and users with App Marketplace access can connect straight away. Everyone else needs a Super Admin to approve the connector first. On a Claude Team or Enterprise plan, an Owner also has to add HubSpot for the organization in Organization settings, then Connectors.

  2. Step 2: Open connectors in Claude

Go to Customize, then Connectors, and click the plus sign to browse. Search for HubSpot. HubSpot’s own guide calls this screen Settings, then Connectors.

  3. Step 3: Connect and sign in

Click Connect and log in to the HubSpot account you want Claude to use. A Claude account connects to one HubSpot account at a time.

  4. Step 4: Choose what Claude can access

HubSpot shows a permissions page. Pick what to allow, then click Connect app. Claude only ever sees data your own HubSpot user can see.

  5. Step 5: Set write tools to Needs approval

Open HubSpot’s tool permissions in Claude. HubSpot recommends Needs approval for write tools, so Claude asks before it changes a record. Always allow can let edits through without a check.

  6. Step 6: Turn it on in a chat

In a conversation, click the plus sign, then Connectors, and toggle HubSpot on. Then ask your first question.

Developers can also reach HubSpot’s remote MCP server at mcp.hubspot.com through a user-level app on HubSpot’s developer platform. Reps don’t need that route: the directory connector is the same data with less setup.

What Claude can read and do in HubSpot

From HubSpot’s and Anthropic’s own docs, as of October 20, 2026.

Reads

  • Contacts, leads, companies, deals, tickets, and custom objects
  • Calls, meetings, notes, tasks, and emails logged on records
  • Pipelines, properties, products, line items, and quotes
  • Inbox and help desk conversations, users, teams, and saved reports

Does

  • Create and update contacts, leads, companies, deals, tickets, and custom objects
  • Log and update calls, meetings, notes, tasks, and emails
  • Create and update line items, products, and quotes (in beta)
  • Create properties and update pipelines

Limits to know

  • It can’t delete records. Deleting still happens in HubSpot.
  • It can’t read custom Sensitive Data properties. With Sensitive Data turned on for the account, it can’t read engagement data at all.
  • Bulk creates and updates are capped at 10 records at a time, and HubSpot’s API limits apply.

Three ways reps use Claude with HubSpot

Copy the prompt, swap in your own deal, and run it with HubSpot toggled on. The results are illustrations with a made-up company, Acme.

  • Pipeline review before your 1:1

Claude pulls open deals by stage and close date and flags the ones going quiet. A Monday check that takes one prompt instead of three reports.

    You

Pull my open HubSpot deals closing this quarter. Group them by stage with amount and close date, and flag any deal with no logged activity in the last 14 days.

    ClaudeExample

    Open deals closing this quarter

    • Proposal: Acme, $48,000, closes Nov 14
    • Discovery: Globex, $22,000, closes Dec 2
    • Flagged: Globex has no logged activity in 19 days
  • Update the deal after a call

Tell Claude what changed in plain words. With write tools on Needs approval, you see every field change before it lands.

    You

Update the Acme deal in HubSpot: move it to Proposal, set the close date to the end of next month, and log a note with the next step: security review with their IT lead on Thursday. Show me the changes first.

    ClaudeExample

    Proposed changes to Acme

    • Stage: Discovery to Proposal
    • Close date: Nov 28
    • Note: security review with their IT lead, Thursday
    • Waiting for your approval
  • Prep for a call in one read

Claude reads the record, the logged emails and meetings, and the open tasks, then gives you what matters for the next conversation.

    You

Before my call with Acme, summarize the deal from HubSpot: contacts and their roles, the last three logged emails and meetings, open tasks, and anything we still owe them.

    ClaudeExample

    Acme call brief

    • Jordan Lee, VP Sales: champion
    • Priya Shah, IT lead: joins Thursday
    • Still owed: the security questionnaire

Safety and permissions

Claude inherits your HubSpot permissions. It can’t see or change anything you couldn’t. These are the settings worth checking before a team rolls it out.

  • Claude sees what your HubSpot user can see, and nothing more. HubSpot’s own permissions still apply.
  • Super Admins choose which optional data the connector can reach and who can install it. After an admin widens access, each user reconnects to get it.
  • Keep write tools on Needs approval. It’s HubSpot’s recommended setting, and it means a person reads every change.
  • Claude can’t delete records or read custom Sensitive Data properties through the connector.
  • To change what you granted, disconnect HubSpot in Claude (Customize, then Connectors) and connect again.

Claude alone vs with Arrows

Claude can drive one tool when one rep asks. Arrows drives the whole team’s stack on every deal, with no prompt. Arrows runs as a HubSpot app. It works from the calls, notes, and emails already on the record, and writes approved changes back.

HubSpot and Claude: common questions

Does HubSpot have an MCP server?

Yes. HubSpot runs a remote MCP server, and its Claude connector, built by HubSpot, is in Claude’s connector directory. Reps should use the directory connector. Developers can reach the server at mcp.hubspot.com through a user-level app on HubSpot’s developer platform.

How do I connect Claude to HubSpot?

In Claude, go to Customize, then Connectors, and add HubSpot from the directory. Click Connect, log in to HubSpot, choose the permissions to allow, and click Connect app. Then toggle HubSpot on in a chat. A Super Admin or a user with App Marketplace access has to connect first.

Is the HubSpot Claude connector free?

HubSpot makes it available on all HubSpot products and plans. On the Claude side, HubSpot’s setup guide lists a paid plan: Pro, Max, Team, or Enterprise. Usage counts against HubSpot’s normal API limits.

Can Claude update deals in HubSpot?

Yes. Claude can create and update deals, contacts, companies, tickets, and activities, and create quotes in beta. It can’t delete records. HubSpot recommends setting write tools to Needs approval so Claude asks before each change.

Can I connect more than one HubSpot account to Claude?

No. A Claude account connects to one HubSpot account at a time. To switch, disconnect HubSpot in Claude and connect again with the other account.

How is Arrows different from the HubSpot connector?

The connector lets Claude work HubSpot when one rep asks. Arrows works every deal without a prompt: it reads HubSpot alongside email and calls, follows your team’s playbook and each deal’s gameplan, and writes changes back once a rep approves. Leaders set Off, Ask first, or Allow for every tool.
