In order to properly create subsequent renewal deals after the first renewal deal has been closed won, we'll need to create two separate workflows for even and odd renewal years. (The odd and even workflow setup is a workaround to avoid creating an infinite loop of renewal deals in HubSpot)

🌟 Note: In order to create this workflow, you'll want to make sure you've already created a renewals pipeline, set up the necessary renewal properties, and created a workflow to create the first renewal deal.

Here's how it works:

Workflow 1: Renewal Year Type = Odd

1. Trigger your first workflow when the deal stage is closed won in your renewal pipeline and your Renewal Year Type property is "Odd"

Optional: Copy the Amount value from the renewal deal to the company record

2. Create a new deal record for the next renewal year
  • Use the Next Renewal Year calculated property you already created in your Deal name
  • Set the Renewal Year Type property to Even
  • Make sure you're copying the Amount, Renewal Year, and Sales Deal Name properties into the new record you're creating

Workflow 1: Renewal Year Type = Even

We're creating an almost identical workflow to what we've built above, so you can clone the previous workflow to make these steps easier.

1. Trigger your first workflow when the deal stage is closed won in your renewal pipeline and your Renewal Year Type property is "Even"

Optional: Copy the Amount value from the renewal deal to the company record

2. Create a new deal record for the next renewal year
  • Use the Next Renewal Year calculated property you already created in your Deal name
  • Set the Renewal Year Type property to Odd
  • Make sure you're copying the Amount, Renewal Year, and Sales Deal Name properties into the new record you're creating

🌟 Bonus tip: Steal this workflow to automatically move renewal deals through your pipeline based on how close they are to their upcoming renewal date
